- Our prime objective is to align and represent the interests of a select group of investment managers, particularly within the Alternative Asset Class, with institutions in Australia and New Zealand. Oenoke Capital will seek to identify where and when, higher or new allocations to ‘alternatives’ are planned from within a sizeable, sophisticated institutional capital base that is materially underpinned by the success of superannuation.
- Before making the move to Australia in 2001 and establishing Oenoke Capital, PIERS BELMONT enjoyed an extensive career with Cazenove & Co in London and also New York. Part of the trainee intake of 1976, Piers remained with the firm until 2000. Piers spent the majority of his career with Cazenove as part of a small, cohesive and effective team that focused on Japanese small and mid sized listed companies. In 1986 Piers transferred to Cazenove Inc., in New York to open a Japanese desk. North America and Japan, with overlap into Asia, remained Piers’ area of expertise until his departure from the firm.
A proposal on a US Mezzanine Fund, soon after the move to Australia was the catalyst for a change in emphasis from listed markets to Private Equity. Since 2005 Oenoke Capital has acted as a Placement Agent for a number overseas Private Equity Funds, with significant success.
MEREDITH TAYLOR is both an Australian Citizen and British Citizen. Meredith was born in Sydney, Australia and studied and completed a Bachelor of Economics majoring in Sociology, Economics and Political Science and a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Sydney. Meredith was also awarded the golden key for academic achievement while at the University of Sydney. During the 1990’s Meredith worked for Ord Minnett in Sydney, then moved to work for Bulmer Pty Limited in both the United Kingdom and Australia as an analyst. Meredith is admitted as a Solicitor and Barrister in the Supreme of Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia. For the last several years Meredith has been working as a Solicitor in New South Wales in the areas of commercial law, insolvency and property law.
